About

English folk-punk singer-songwriter accompanied by backing band the Sleeping Souls

Following involvements with a handful of other rock and post-hardcore projects, it was in 2006 that Turner released his debut EP, Campfire Punkrock. Less than a year later, the singer-songwriter was already back with a full-length album, Sleep Is For The Week. The next few years were filled with major support slots for Biffy Clyro, Green Day and the Gaslight Anthem, appearances at some of the UK’s largest festivals, and two further studio albums. His third record, Poetry of the Deed, saw particular chart success in the UK, opening Turner up to a whole new audience.

In 2014, following the release of his fourth and fifth solo albums, Turner released the self-titled debut album from his newly-formed punk outfit, Möngöl Hörde. The following year he made his literary debut with The Road Beneath My Feet, part tour diary and part travel memoir. May 2015 saw the release of Turner’s sixth studio album, Positive Songs For Negative People.

Turner would take a short break from album releases before he and the sleeping souls returned in 2018 with Be More Kind. Their next record together, No Man’s Land, was a concept album that focused on the lives of various historical women, and was accompanied by a podcast, Tales from No Man's Land, that explored the stories behind each song. In 2022, Turner released FTCH, his first album to take the no.1 spot on the UK album chart. In 2024, Turner announced his tenth studio album, Undefeated, for May of that year.

  • The Sleeping Souls were wide awake

by Mornysmith on 19/04/2025O2 Guildhall Southampton - SouthamptonRating: 5 out of 5

Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls were wide awake and entertaining us with very loud punk folk music. Frank's solo acoustic guitar calmed things down a bit but the singers and dancers in the Southampton audience were ready for anything. The long set was wildly appreciated. I was in my wheelchair on the disabled platform and my carer and I were treated royally from the start. When it came to an end I was guided safely down the slope by Alex, we decided backwards was the best way forwards. I got good wishes from a young blonde girl and also from a man in blue vest who said he was pleased to see me up and dancing! (I was delighted that he recognised my 'standing, bum-wriggling, holding-onto-the-barrier-tightly' as dancing!) It's a great venue and I look forward to seeing FT again and going to the Guildhall.

Fantastic gig. Great energy as ever from Frank and the Sleeping Souls. Very intimate venue and real contrast from the 10,000 at Ali Palace. Both brilliant entertainment.

    by K5H on 03/04/2025O2 Academy Leeds - LeedsRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing night, Frank Turner didn't fail to deliver. His energy levels and interaction with the crowd were brilliant. His set list was spot on. His decision to play Thatcher f(@£)d the kids went down very well either way the Leeds crowd. Don't stop touring and we won't stop coming.
