Famed for their guitar riffs and blasting beats, Cradle Of Filth are a wildly imaginative extreme metal band that formed in Suffolk in 1991. Comprising black metal, symphonic metal and many other metal genres, they’re heavily influenced by gothic literature, poetry, mythology and horror.
Led by Dani Filth (born Daniel Lloyd Davey), who has a five-octave vocal range, the six-piece unveiled their debut album The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh in 1992.
Cradle Of Filth’s expansive and theatrical third album, 1998’s Cruelty And The Beast, broke them into the top 50 on the UK albums chart and was widely regarded as a black metal masterpiece. A concept album, it was based on the Hungarian “blood countess” Elizabeth Báthory, who’s labelled by Guinness World Records as the most prolific female killer in history.
In the years that followed, Cradle Of Filth also built a reputation as one of the most riotously entertaining bands in the metal world – thanks to their intense and extravagant live shows often filled with stilt walkers, caged dancers, monsters and much more.
The band peaked at No.44 on the UK albums chart with 2003’s Damnation And The Day, featuring the hit lead single Babalon A.D. (So Glad For The Madness). A decade later, Cradle Of Faith marked a musical evolution with elements of symphonic metal as well as tinges of folk metal and pop creeping into 2015’s Hammer Of The Witches and 2017’s Cryptoriana – The Seductiveness Of Decay.
Over the band’s first three decade, the line-up changed greatly. In addition to frontman Filth, current members include guitarists Richard Shaw and Marek “Ashok” Šmerda, drummer Martin “Marthus” Skaroupka, bassist Daniel Firth and keyboardist Anabelle.
Cradle Of Filth took to the stage at Bloodstock 2021 in a hail of fire. That August, the band also announced their 13th album Existence Is Futile would arrive on 22 October 2021. Pieced together in isolation at Suffolk’s Grindstone Studios and produced by Scott Atkins (Devilment, Vader), they confirmed details for a special one-off show at London’s Roundhouse on 31 October 2021 to support it.

Always a pleasure to see cradle of filth. See them so many time lost count but first time at O2 Forum Kentish Town. Beautiful venue
Fantastic concert , Ticketmaster were excellent and sent a few reminders before the gig , easy access to tickets and access into the venue 👍 the Bournemouth o2 is a great old venue and a listed building. The sound is amazing and there's plenty of standing and sitting with great views of the stage 👍👍👍
Received a pluck and song list and awsome night perfection and the fact I was with the whole thing I had to be honest
